The flag of Guatemala was established by a decree in 1871 which restored the flag colors picked by a national assembly in 1823. The flag displays three stripes of equal size: two blue stripes on either end, and a white stripe in the center. This middle section also displays the country's national coat of arms.
Guatemala is a country in North America, located just south of Mexico. Originally a colony of Spain, it also became a part of Mexico, then a part of the Central American Federation, before eventually gaining independence in 1839.
